Egypt win CAVB title, secure Olympic 2028 berth – Kenya and Cameroon earn World Cup spots

At the recently concluded CAVB Women's Volleyball African Nations Championship in Nairobi, Egypt defeated Kenya 3-0 in the final to claim the title. This victory not only brought the prestigious trophy but also secured Africa's sole berth for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Meanwhile, Kenya (silver) and Cameroon (bronze) earned spots at the 2027 FIVB World Cup. The final was a one-sided affair. From the first set, Egypt showed superior strength with sharp attacks and solid blocking. Despite playing at home, Kenya could not create any surprises. The standout performer was outside hitter Nada Ahmed Houssameldein (Meawad), who scored 14 points including 2 blocks and 1 ace. Opposite Mariam Metwally Mohamed Morsy (Meeto) added 12 points, playing a crucial role in the win. For Kenya, Veronica Adhiambo Oluoch led with 11 points (2 aces, 1 block), while Elizabeth Marian Sokoiyo had 10 points. With this championship, Egypt qualified for the Olympic women's volleyball tournament for the first time in history. Their blocking was effective in neutralizing Kenya's offense. Strong serving also troubled Kenya's reception.
